My colleague Jared Bauer and I gave a talk on developing our Research System at GitHub to students in the Human Centered Design & Engineering program at the University of Washington. I was really impressed with the students’ engagement and questions about applied research.

I gave a talk entitled “What even is…UX Research” to Brendan Griffiths Interaction Design class at Parsons School of Design. It was really fun! The students had some great questions about what researchers do all day.

I gave a talk at the Qualtrics X4 Experience Summit in Salt Lake City about how we built our personas at Simple using quant and qual research. Unfortunately it wasn’t video recorded, but since it was one of the top-rated sessions of the conference, I got to re-present it as a webcast! I make a short appearance in an ad for Autodesk Fusion360, a cool new tool for 3D designers that enables them to combine industrial and mechanical design software into a single cloud-based platform.

Last night I was one of the judges for the Oregon IDSA Student Merit Awards, held at the University of Oregon’s White Stag campus in Portland. Congratulations to the winners, Jonathan Wilson of the Art Institute of Portland and Tim Ploeger of the University of Oregon!
