ARTD 4/510 Contemporary Design – University of Oregon
Course Description
This undergraduate/graduate seminar is an introduction to critical theory in the realm of product design and digital arts. We will examine history, theory, and social movements within the design community as well as the relationship between design as commodity and design as art. This course is a three-term sequence starting with an historical overview in fall and more contemporary coverage in winter and spring.
Each week the students respond to a reading assignment and several small studio exercises are assigned throughout the term.
